Laying the foundations for a transformer
HBH Logistics was commissioned to transport a transformer from Dresden, Germany to Friedeburg, Germany (near Wilhemshaven) and to position it on the existing foundations there. Transport took a total of two nights. Due to the large dimensions of the cargo, transport could only take place at night.
The transformer was transported aboard a boiler bridge, a special trailer used to handle such vast dimensions.(the component was 420cm in height!)
Upon arrival at the construction site, the boiler bridge had to be raised hydraulically to the height of the foundations.
The transformer was then raised using a hydraulic lifting system so that the wheels (important for positioning of the transformer) could be fitted. Rails were laid beneath the transformer, which was subsequently hydraulically lowered onto these. Following successful positioning of the transformer on the rails, it could be pulled over from the boiler bridge onto the foundations.
